- You don’t always make a profit at a casino. But it’s still fun to get dressed up and play blackjack anyway.
- Life goes by quickly. Before you know it your kids have turned 25 and 22. Happy Birthdays Victoria (yesterday) and Will (today) Dad and I are very proud of you both and love you very much. ??
- Cadbury have a factory and shop in Dunedin. $3 for 3 bars. Too good to resist!

4. Trendy breakfast spots with trendy menus, don’t necessarily have nice breakfasts. Nigella seeds and bean sprouts in scrambled eggs were not a hit with Dave. (But the old books on the table and the English Breakfast tea in proper cups were!)
5. Fish and chips is a NZ staple. A side street ‘chipper’ in Invercargill, eating F&C on small wooden tables just out of the rain might not sound fantastic… but it was. Hand cut chips made it extra good!
6. Holidays are for favourite things and I managed two of them today… a wonderful spa bath looking over the gorgeous garden in the B&B, and watching the end of the boxing day test over a quiet vodka, lime and soda.
7. Serving venison seems to be very common in NZ restaurants. Tonight’s version was a tender rump, cooked rare, with roasted beetroot; celeriac puree and crisps; cherry relish and spinach. It was very, very good. I highly recommend Louie’s Tapas Bar in Dee St, Invercargill. The ‘Tropicana’ cocktail was equally delicious! I started with local mussels in a spicy coconut and coriander broth. Dave enjoyed his scotch fillet, and we then shared dessert of coconut pannacotta, mango, pomegranate and sesame praline!
8. As usual our holidays include a trip to the grocery shop. Very similar to Australia, but more dairy choices! A 2 litre Chocolate Milk was $5, so similar prices to Aus.
Goodnight all, my list for tomorrow is long, so its time for bed 🙂
